Worn by Julia Fox and Nicola Coughlan, and featured in publications such as Elle and Vogue, Bhumi has rapidly established itself as one of fashion’s most compelling new voices. Founded by Emma Van Engelen, the Dutch brand was built in defiance of traditional industry structures, harnessing innovative 3D printing technology, decrentralised production methods, body-inclusive designs, and social media to reclaim power and creative autonomy for designers, redefining how fashion is conceived, produced, and experienced.

Our Vision

At Bhumi, we envision a future where fashion is a place to play, connect, and uplift each other. We dream of a world where beauty is all-inclusive, where fashion is not just about clothing, but a joyful expression of who you are—bold, vibrant, and unique.

We aim to build a world where difference is celebrated, and individuals define beauty on their own terms. Every woman will feel seen, heard, and empowered through the clothes she wears. Fashion will be a space where self-expression is limitless and celebrated, and Bhumi will lead the way in fostering this inclusive and joyful revolution.

  • Innovation

We are pioneers in utilizing cutting-edge technology to shape the future of fashion. By embracing 3D printing, digital rendering, and new production techniques, we create designs that push the limits of traditional fashion. Bhumi stands at the intersection of creativity and technology, redefining what’s possible in the fashion world.

  • Empowerment

Rooted in the spirit of nature and spirituality, Bhumi designs not just clothes but tools of empowerment. Our pieces are about growth—both personal and societal. We seek to inspire women to embrace their natural beauty, to see their bodies as powerful forces of nature, and to thrive in the confidence that comes from self-acceptance.

  • Body Inclusivity

At Bhumi, we believe in taking up space and expressing ourselves boldly. We embrace maximalism in every sense—whether it’s through bold colors, intricate designs, or larger-than-life silhouettes. For us, more is more, and we design for women who want their fashion to be a statement, not a whisper.

Sustainability Mission

At Bhumi, sustainability is built into the way we create. Our pieces are 3D printed on demand in our studio using PLA, a biodegradable material made from renewable resources like cornstarch and sugarcane. By producing only what is needed and recycling excess material back into new filament, we reduce waste and move towards a more circular future for fashion.

Looking ahead, our vision extends beyond the studio. Because every Bhumi design begins as a digital file, pieces can be printed anywhere in the world and produced locally rather than shipped long distances. As the brand grows, we aim to establish regional printing farms that allow designs to be created closer to where they are worn, reducing transportation emissions while making production more flexible, innovative, and inclusive. Through this decentralised model, Bhumi hopes to reimagine how fashion is made, where creativity and sustainability move forward together.

Why Bhumi?

Bhumi was born from the need to challenge and push the boundaries of the current fashion industry. The status quo of narrow beauty standards and exclusive sizing has left too many women feeling unseen, unheard, and unrepresented. Bhumi is on a mission to make the fashion world a place where every woman can see herself reflected, celebrated, and empowered in the clothes she wears.

The name Bhumi, derived from the Sanskrit for “goddess of the earth,” reflects the brand’s celebration of untamed growth, transformation, and an intangible essence of feminine divinity. Just as the earth nurtures and evolves, Bhumi encourages women to embrace their natural forms and take up space unapologetically. This is a philosophy woven into every design. Our bespoke pieces are inspired by the unrefined shapes, textures, and natural formations found in both the human body and nature’s spontaneous growth. Every garment is a celebration of individuality, a statement of confidence, and an invitation to rewrite the rules of beauty.

A Visionary Designer

Founded by Emma van Engelen, a visionary designer and recent graduate of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, Bhumi emerged from the desire to challenge these restrictive ideals of fashion.

As an younger model who struggled to maintain industry standard measurements, Emma experienced the restrictive ideals of the fashion industry firsthand. Consequently, Emma’s personal journey grappling with the pressure to fit into a mold that didn’t represent her body ignited her mission to break these barriers and revitalize the fashion industry with creativity, fun, and authenticity.

Now known for her innovative designs and fearless approach, Emma is redefining fashion with Bhumi, creating a brand that embraces individuality and challenges convention.
